Salvation Army collections fall short of goals, but exceed last year's intake

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Gold coins and a diamond were tossed into the collections tins, but the donations were not enough to fill the Salvation Army's red kettle goal.

The Salvation Army says it collected $382,000 this holiday season. That's short of its $400,000 goal, but it's more than last year's collection of $311,000.

Officials say they don't want to cut services, and will soon decide where they can cut expenses.
