LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police have identified a woman shot by police after a high-speed chase Sunday.

Kentucky State Police say Alicia Scott, 23, was the driver of the car police chased around Jefferson County Sunday. She was being pursued after allegedly shooting at her domestic partner earlier in the day.

According to a news release, she has been charged with first degree fleeing and evading in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, speeding, wanton endangerment and attempted murder of a police officer.

Louisville Metro Police say they responded to several domestic situations involving the suspect throughout the day Sunday. In the final incident, police say the woman shot at her domestic partner.

A short time later, police were able to track her down, but when they tried to pull her over, she took off. Police say the woman led them across Jefferson County at speeds exceeding 120 miles per hour.

After several failed attempts, LMPD and KSP officers were finally able to stop her car at the entrance of I-264 East at Newburg Road.

At that point, they say the woman pulled out a gun.

"The preliminary investigation indicates that the subject had the weapon in her hand," said KSP spokesman Jared Newberry. "At the point where vehicles were stopping, she presented the firearm."

KSP sergeant Scott Koch fired several shots at the suspect. He has since been placed on administrative leave--standard department procedure.

"Based upon the situation presented to us by the suspect, we really had no choice in the matter," said Sgt. Michael Webb of KSP. "The criminal action of presenting a fire arm is met with deadly force."

LMPD has yet to file additional charges against Scott in the domestic incident. LMPD expects those charges to be filed once Scott is released from the hospital.
