St. Matthews police arrest two of three suspects in Christmas Eve theft and assault

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Two of three suspects in a Christmas Eve assault at JCPenney have been arrested, according to St. Matthews Police.

St. Matthews Police had asked for help identifying three shoplifting suspects who are accused of beating up the loss prevention officer who confronted them.

Monday evening, with the assistance of LMPD officers, St. Matthews Police say they apprehended two of the suspects in the surveillance video.

They say they have arrested 19-year-old Eden Araque and 18-year-old Hunter Ackerman.

The JCPenney employee at Mall St. Matthews was left with a broken nose, cuts and bruises. Police say she was assaulted on Christmas Eve early in the afternoon.
