LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- There has been a significant jump in the number of police officers killed by guns.

A report by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund says 50 officers were killed by firearms this year -- that's up from 32 last year.

In all, the report says 126 officers were killed in the line of duty, two dozen more than last year.

Shootings were the leading cause, while traffic-related deaths were second.
