Kentucky Festival Pageant queens visit James Brown Cancer Center

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It's a simple gesture meant to bring holiday cheer to those battling cancer.

Eight queens with the Kentucky Festival Pageant visited the James Brown Cancer Center Wednesday morning.

They helped directors and volunteers distribute hats, scarves, gloves, Bibles and cards to the patients. It's an annual tradition that the queens say is just as rewarding for those giving as the patients receiving a gift.

"We're trying to put a smile on these patients' faces who are going through chemotherapy, and it's honestly a great experience," said Logan Hornback, Miss Kentucky Teen.

The titleholders plan to continue this project in the future, and work with the Dream Factory, Kentucky Kids Bible mission, and toy drives across the state.
