LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 4-year-old boy who was admitted to Kosair Children's Hospital with head trauma has died from brain injuries, according to a family member and the Indiana State Police.

WDRB has contacted Clark County Deputy Prosecutor Jeremy Mull and Indiana State Police, but they have not returned our calls.

Officers with the Indiana State Police at Sellersburg were called to Kosair Children's Hospital on Jan. 3 to investigate the child's injuries after he was brought there by his father, 27-year-old Christopher Bruck.

Police say Bruck told them during an interview at Kosair that he became upset with his son and struck him.

A probable cause affidavit says Bruck told police his son kept getting in front of his face and pulling his hand while Bruck was watching TV. He The affidavit says Bruck hit the child's forehead, causing him to fall backwards. Bruck added that the boy hit his head on the carpeted concrete floor.

He allegedly told police he hit him so hard his hand hurt.

"The investigation so far has yielded that the child was simply trying to interact with the defendant while he was watching television," Mull said earlier in the week. "the defendant became irritated at that and the battery occurred."

Bruck has been charged with aggravated battery. He could face more serious charges now that the boy has died.
