LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Kroger location in Clifton is set to get a $5 million upgrade.

The store on Lower Brownsboro Road will expand and take over vacant spaces in the shopping center. It will have have bigger seafood, meat and produce departments. The deli and bakery will also be updated to give it a new look.

It will also feature a Murray's Cheese Shoppe and a beverage bar with coffee and milkshakes.

The store will add space to reach nearly 46,000 square feet.

“While the Clifton store won't be as big as other Kroger stores it's still going to be a really nice, neighborhood store,” said Kroger Real Estate Manager, Danny Lethco.

Two businesses moved out of the shopping center, giving Kroger the opportunity to take over the vacancies. The grocery store will become the only tenant in the building.

The store will remain open during the construction process, and parking will remain the same.

Construction is set to start in the spring and be complete by late fall.
