UK outlasts Texas A&M in double overtime, 70-64

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Southeastern Conference play has turned out to be much more difficult for the UK men's basketball team than some initially predicted.

For the second-straight game, the No.1 Wildcats were pushed to overtime by a conference opponent, and after two overtimes, they finally prevailed over Texas A&M, 70-64, in College Station.

The Aggies led the entire first half, the fourth time this season UK has trailed at the break.

The Cats fought back though, leading for much of the second half before A&M tied the game with 18 seconds left to send it to overtime.

UK trailed again for much of overtime, but two free throws by freshman forward Trey Lyles tied the game with six seconds left in the first overtime.

Freshman Tyler Ulis hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:26 left in double overtime, and the Cats held on the rest of the way.

UK outrebounded A&M,  53-52, an area that the Wildcats have typically dominated this season.

UK moves to 15-0, and will host Missouri at 9 p.m. Tuesday.
