LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police arrested a man who officials say stabbed a man.

Jerry Burks, 47, was arrested on Tuesday morning in the 7200 block of Outer Loop, near Vaughn Mill Road, after police say he stabbed a man multiple times in the face, chest and left arm with a knife. The arrest report states that the assault occurred just before 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 7 in the 6100 block of East Manslick Road, near Roth Road.

According to an official arrest report, both Burks and the victim had dated the same woman. Police say the woman was a witness to the assault.

Authorities say that on the day the assault occurred, Burks saw the witness and victim together at a bar. Officials say Burks then went to the witness' home and texted her stating that he was waiting for her.

Investigators say the victim and the witness then went to the witness' home, and it was there that Burks and the victim had a physical altercation in the witness' driveway. Police say the victim then went and sat in his car and was followed by Burks, who then stabbed him.

Officials say Burks was gone when police arrived.

The victim was taken to U of L Hospital, where he received treatments for his injuries.

Burks is charged with assault and he is being held on a $100,000 cash bond.
