LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A University of Louisville football player has pleaded not guilty to assaulting a police officer, disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana.

Terrance Ross, a redshirt sophomore, was in court Wednesday after he was arrested Sunday on South Third Street.

According to the arrest report, Ross hit an officer in the face as he was being arrested.

Ross has been suspended from the team. He did not play in the majority of the team's games this season, but did return two kickoffs for 28 yards in the Cards' Belk Bowl loss to Georgia.

Ross is considered one of the top returning defensive backs on Louisville's roster ahead of the 2015 season.
