New Albany officials hoping to save General Mills plant from closing

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- New Albany officials are taking steps to try and keep a General Mills plant open.

Talks are in the works for next month between the union representing plant workers and company officials. Last week, General Mills notified its employees that the Pillsbury plant may close, affecting about 400 jobs.

City leaders are also stepping in. A councilwoman says a committee was formed Thursday night to see if there is anything the city can do to keep General Mills as an employer.

Committee members hope to work with General Mills and the union.
