Louisville's Metro Council to hold election for new president next week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Next week, Louisville's Metro Council will hold an election for a new president after the death of Jim King.

For now, Metro Council President pro-tem David James will step in as council president.

The election is scheduled for next Thursday.

The council will also take applications over the next seven days for someone to fill the District 10 seat.

King died Wednesday at the age of 63, after an illness. Visitation for King will be at Highlands Funeral Home Saturday and Sunday. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Raphael Church.
