Mother mourns murder of daughter a year later

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Exactly a year after Kristine Pierson's murder, her mother and LMPD investigators are still searching for answers.

"I just need answers," said Cheryl Browning, Pierson's mother. "I need to know what happened to my baby."

One year ago, Pierson's body was found in an alley in the Portland neighborhood near North 33rd Street and Rudd Avenue.

It's the same place where family and friends gathered to remember the 24-year-old model. Around 60 people gathered to remember Pierson and take part in a ceremonial balloon release in her honor.

On Saturday, Browning told WDRB that her daughter's body was burned when she was discovered.

"I think Louisville needs to hear it. I mean who does this? What kind of monster is walking the earth that does this?" Browning said.

Now, Browning says LMPD detectives have several persons of interest in the case but still not enough information or evidence to arrest or charge anyone.

Instead, Browning is asking for the help of the community in helping solve her daughter's murder.

"She was supposed to bury me not the other way around," Browning said.

Anyone with any information relevant to this case is asked to call LMPD at 574-LMPD.
