Jewish Community Center gathers to remember French Jews killed last week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Hundreds of people in Louisville gathered in solidarity Sunday after an attack at a kosher market in Paris.

An event at the Jewish Community Center remembered the four French Jews killed by Islamic Extremists last week.

A Skype interview with the American-Jewish Committee office in France gave perspective on the recent attack.

The director says things are going from bad to worse for the Jewish community in Europe.

Back here in Louisville, Sunday's gathering showed freedom of expression.

"This is really about freedom, really about communities coming together ... not just the Jewish community but the entire community of Louisville coming together to condemn actions like what we saw in France," said Matt Goldberg of the Jewish Community Center.

"Congressman John Yarmuth and Mayor Greg Fischer also spoke at the event. They focused on the global world we live in and how religion should never be a basis for being attacked.
