LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police and EMS units are on the scene of a three-vehicle rollover accident that has left nine people injured, including four children, according to Metrosafe dispatchers.

Police say several of the victims had to be extricated from their vehicles. There were three cars involved including a large black pickup truck, a red sedan and a compact SUV.

Police also say the accident took place shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday at the corner of N. 27th Street and Montgomery Street.

"I heard a squeal of tires -- which um -- they were going around the block a couple of times when I pulled up to my house and then seeing them come up 27th street -- you know with the tires are squealing -- and the next thing you heard was a big crash," witness Justin Turner said.

Another witness told WDRB they saw the black truck run a stop sign at the intersection.

The son of the driver of the red car says at last check, his family is fine following the crash.

"My two nephews and niece seem okay, they're a little shooken up," said Jecker, "I got a call about my mother a little while ago she's responsive, they're doing tests to make sure there is no internal bleeding but she's going to be okay they say."
But this isn't the first time Jecker says he's seen accident happen at this intersection and hopes that the severity of this accident will resonate with people who live nearby.

"Speed limits and stops signs are here for a reason," said Jecker, "Watch what you're doing and pay attention."

At this point, he's just glad his mother and nephews and niece are all going to be okay.

"It's unbelievable, God was watching over someone today," added Jecker

All nine victims were taken to the hospital, but not all of their conditions have been released.
