LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The defense attorney for a former JCPS bus driver accused of doing nothing while students performed sex acts on each other made a special request Wednesday morning.

Police say Kristi Lawrence was driving students from Buechel Metropolitan High and Kennedy Metro Middle last August when a 17-year-old boy persuaded a 12-year-old female student to perform a sex act on him.

It happened in the seat directly behind Lawrence, according to police.

In court Wednesday morning, prosecutors requested that Lawrence have no contact with minors -- but Lawrence's attorneys fought for her to have unsupervised contact with her own daughter.

The judge eventually ruled her daughter exempt from the no-contact request.

JCPS spokesman Ben Jackey says Lawrence was fired in October. According to the district, she had no prior disciplinary actions in her personnel file.
