New Albany mayor to call special meeting to save Pillsbury Plant

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- New Albany Mayor Jeff Gahan is calling a special meeting of the city council to consider economic incentives to save hundreds of jobs at the Pillsbury Plant.

The plan would allow up to $7 million in bond proceeds to help modernize the plant. It would include buying and installing new equipment, provided it remains in New Albany.

The special council meeting is set for next Tuesday night.

The company recently announced it is considering closing the plant, but it's subject to negotiation with union officials. Four hundred jobs are at stake.
