LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Wear your pajamas in honor of Llama Llama!

The Southwest Regional Library hosted that event Saturday as part of its "1,000 Books before Kindergarten" program.

The first 500 families at the library Saturday got a copy of the popular children's book, featuring the "Llama Llama" character.

Kids were encouraged to wear pajamas in honor of the book, and could even meet Llama Llama himself.

"Llama Llama is one of Brinley's favorite books right now," said Owen Marshall, who brought his daughter Brinley to see one of her favorite book characters.

"So we thought it'd be fun to get her down here and read Llama Llama."

The "1,000 Books before Kindergarten" program also celebrated its first anniversary Saturday.

Children who had reached various milestones in the challenge were recognized for their dedicated reading.
