Loved ones remember mother of three killed by her neighbor in Lebanon Junction

LOUISVILLE, Ky (WDRB) - The Bullitt County mother of three who was shot and killed inside a Lebanon Junction home was laid to rest Sunday.

Loved ones each let go of a balloon in Tina Zamora honor.

Three heart-shaped balloons were released by her daughters, the rest by friends.

Police say Austin Allen, 18, shot and killed the 37-year-old mother of three.

Neighbors told WDRB that Allen has a history of mental illness.

He's in jail on a $1 million cash bond.

Zamora leaves behind three young daughters who are now staying with a great aunt until their dad finds a new home.

Detective Lt. Scotty McGaha with the Bullitt County Sheriff's Office is close to the Zamora family.

"Good kids, good kids. Love them to death," McGaha said.

He took temporary custody of the girls after their mother was murdered and says they're trying to understand why she was killed.

"Just tell them that sometimes there's bad people in this world. We've had them in therapy already. They're typical kids. They laugh, they cry, they laugh, they cry."

"I know Tina is so happy that everybody has gathered around her girls to help take care of them because they were her world," Sara Brown said.

Brown knew Zamora and says the community is heartbroken about what happened to her.

"Everybody just came out of the woodwork. It didn't matter if they knew the family or if they didn't know the family. They were ready to help," she said.

Brown has temporary custody of the family's pets until they find a permanent home.

"They've lost enough already. I couldn't imagine them losing their animals as well," she said.
