LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two new Planet Fitness gyms are open in Louisville.

A 14,000-square-foot Planet Fitness opened Friday at the Central Station shopping center that includes Kroger at the southeast corner of S. Third Street and Central Avenue.

Meanwhile, a 22,000-square-foot Planet Fitness, at 5138 Dixie Highway near Holy Cross High School, was set to open by noon today, said Ken Horn, marketing manager for PF Louisville, the franchisee that owns six Planet Fitness gyms in the Louisville-Southern Indiana area.

“We are pleased to be able to bring affordable, intimidation-free physical fitness to these two important areas of our city,” said Rick Kueber, who leads the Louisville Planet Fitness franchise with his brother David, in press release. “Planet Fitness provides everyday people affordable access to great equipment, in a clean and welcoming environment, to help them work toward better health.”

A seventh Planet Fitness, at Shelbyville Road and Urton Lane in Middletown, will open in April, Horn said.

Memberships start at $1 down and $10 a month, plus a $29 annual fee. The gyms are open and staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
