LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Louisville Metro Police have arrested a man who officials say assaulted his girlfriend after an argument about money.

Bryan Texas, 32, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in the 400 block of N. 29th Street, near Slevin Street in the Portland neighborhood, after police say he attacked his live-in girlfriend. Police records indicate the incident stemmed from an argument between the two over $5.

Authorities say the victim refused to give the money to Texas. He allegedly then cut the cord off a vacuum cleaner and used it to tie the victim's hands and shoved her into a closet.

Police say Texas then placed a knife against the victim's face and told her if he was "going to jail, it would be worth his while."

Officials say he then used more cord and began to choke the victim.

The victim was able to break free and tried to escape the home, according to the official report. However, Texas caught the woman and forced her back into a bedroom, where police say he tried to smother her using a t-shirt.

Police say the victim agreed to give Texas the money, and he released her to go outside to get it. Investigators say the victim fled from the home and flagged down a police officer to help her.

Texas was arrested and now faces multiple charges including assault, wanton endangerment, unlawful imprisonment and terroristic threatening.

He is being held on a $35,000 cash bond.
