LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Volunteers come together to find out just how many people are sleeping on the streets of Louisville.

Hundreds of volunteers and members of the Coalition for the Homeless and Seven Counties Services participated in a training session for a count of homeless people in the city.

It's part of the annual nationwide Street Count.

The count is important because it helps determine how much money the city and state will receive from the U.S. department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

The official head count will take place on Thursday.

The numbers will be released in the spring.
