LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say a student at Fern Creek High School who admitted to being high was only too willing to show school administrators the knife he brought to school with him.

According to court documents, 18-year-old Damon Brooks and 18-year-old Markell Franklin were arrested  Thursday morning.

Police say Brooks was in class Thursday, when a teacher heard him talking about how he and Franklin were joking around when they pulled knives out.

Brooks was taken to the assistant principal. Police say that when he was confronted about this, he immediately pulled out a 4-inch lockback knife and gave it to the administrator.

Franklin was also brought into the office. Administrators found a 5-inch lockback knife in his backpack, according to the arrest report.

Police say Brooks smelled of marijuana, had red, glassy eyes and admitted to smoking half a "blunt" that morning. When asked if he was high, he replied in the affirmative that he was.

Both Franklin and Brooks were arrested and charged with the unlawful possession of a weapon on school property. Brooks was also charged with public intoxication.
