Police, utility crews respond after car strikes gas meter on Ailanthus Trail

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police, fire and utilities crews rushed to a home in the Newburg area Friday morning after Metrosafe dispatchers say a vehicle crashed into the house, damaging a gas meter.

It happened shortly after 10 a.m. in the 5400 block of Ailanthus Trail, just east of Thomas Jefferson Middle School.

Dispatchers say there are no reports of any injuries after the vehicle hit the home and the gas meter, but crews responded quickly over concerns that the damaged gas meter might have caused a gas leak.

We're told the gas has been completely shut off at that location, and electrical crews are also on hand to survey the damage.

Pete Ruiz, a WDRB photojournalist on the scene, tells us one whole block has been roped off as crews continue their work.
