LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Mayor of Heritage Creek didn't go to work on Tuesday, but he had a reason. His grandson is charged with raping a family member.

Court records say Shane Webb had a sexual relationship with the child for six years.

The indictment says it started in 2007 before the victim was 12 years old.

Webb is also known as Richard Peay. He pleaded not guilty yesterday to 10 counts of sexual abuse, sodomy and rape. His attorney made the case for him to stay out of jail.

"Mr. Webb did voluntarily turn himself in," said E.H. Tingle, Webb's attorney. "In addition, Mr. Webb has absolutely no record whatsoever. He has a discharge from the United States Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged."

The 26-year-old former Marine is home with his grandfather today on house arrest.

Mayor Larry Webb said, "It's a difficult situation for any family to go through, but no matter what, I love all of my family."

We reached out to the LMPD Crimes Against Children and the Commonwealth Attorney's Office. Neither would comment on the case.
