New energy-efficient windows at the Galt House to cut noise, save money

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A downtown Louisville hotel says it will cut its energy bill by 30 percent, thanks to new windows.

The Galt House spent more than than $2 million replacing all the windows in the older of two towers. The hotel says it took close to two years to complete the project. They estimate noise will be cut in half, and energy costs drastically reduced.

"In the morning, when the sun would come up in the east, you would have condensation in the window," said Kenny Franklin, the Galt House director of engineering. "That's all gone. So that just tells you -- visually -- how much more efficient they are."
