LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- About 300-500 hourly Ford Motor Co. workers -- including some at Louisville Assembly Plant -- will get a raise from $19.28 an hour to $28.50 an hour in coming months, Ford said Wednesday.

As Ford adds 1,550 workers in Kansas City and Dearborn, Mich. to produce F-150 pickups, the company will reach its limit of "entry level" wage earners under its 2011 contract with the United Auto Workers union.

Therefore, some of the workers hired in 2010 in Louisville, Kansas City and Dearborn will move into the wage scale of veteran UAW workers.

UAW vice president Jimmy Settles said in press release that it represents "a major milestone for employees hired under the entry level agreement."

According to the 2011 contract, new hires start at $15.78 an hour, and the entry level wage tier tops out at $19.28.
