LACETT | UK Signing Day

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) - On the recruiting trail, the last two weeks have been rough for the Kentucky Wildcats.

Much to Mark Stoops chagrin, six commits changed their minds on coming to Kentucky.  However on Wednesday's Signing Day, Mark Stoops was all smiles.

“I feel like we really hit on a bunch of guys we were looking for,” said Stoops.  “Big thing that you'll notice with this group is great size, great length.  We feel like we hit a lot of areas of need in the secondary, O line, D line.  Overall, very pleased with this group. “

UK welcomed 23 players. Rivals has this year's class ranked 42nd. A year ago, UK ranked a school-record 17th in the Rivals rankings.

“We could have signed up to 25, and you got to count on some attrition between now and next fall, but we actually had 23,” said Stoops. “I feel very good about that.  It gives us a little bit of leeway if we have some attrition throughout our team between here and the summer.”

The Wildcats are fresh off a 5-7 season. Stoops hopes these players come in and make an immediate impact.

"Everybody asks me all the time, what do I feel about this?  We put a lot of hard work, and it's good to get it wrapped up," said Stoops.  "It's good to introduce them to our fan base and to the media and talk about these guys publicly."

Here is a rundown of UK's signees. UK was unable to land any five-star recruits but they did land five, four-star prospects: They are George Asafo-Adjei, Eli Brown, C.J. Conrad, Jordan Jones, and Marcus Walker. Below is a comment from Stoops on each player.  (Courtesy: UK Athletics)
