LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana State Police arrested a 66-year-old woman who allegedly embezzled money from a relative before he died.

Police say an investigation revealed Brenda Lee, of Fort Branch, had been stealing money from the account of Franklin Douglas – her stepfather.

Douglas died in 2012 and Lee had full access to his bank accounts by power of attorney.

Indiana State Police say their investigation shows Lee had taken over $600,000 from Douglas's accounts for her personal use between 2009 and 2012.

Lee was arrested at her home Wednesday and taken to the Gibson County Jail.

She is charged with felony theft and misdemeanor check deception.

The investigation was led by Detective Toni Walden of Indiana State Police.
