LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer is challenging every Louisville business to hire at least one young person this summer.

Launched in 2011, the Mayor's Summer Works program helps young people find summer employment. This year, he wants to set a record by finding jobs for 2,500 youth.

On Friday morning, Fischer announced that he'll be hosting a job fair at the Kentucky International Convention Center next Saturday. More than 35 companies with nearly 1,000 available jobs will participate in the event.

The Mayor says companies shouldn't look at this as charity, but an opportunity to find energetic, committed employees.
