Police calling Saturday morning New Albany house fire a "homicide investigation"

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - One man has died following a house fire that happened early Saturday morning in New Albany, according to New Albany Police Chief Todd Bailey.

Members of the New Albany Fire Department and New Albany Police Department went to the scene of a fire, located in the 2300 block of Park Avenue at about 3:45 a.m.

Emergency workers rescued a 58-year-old male victim from the home. He was taken to Floyd Memorial Health Services, where he was pronounced dead.

The victim's identity has not yet been released, but Bailey says the case is being reclassified as a homicide investigation.
