LOUISVILLE, Ky, (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police arrested a woman authorities say assaulted a male victim.

Winona Cantrell, 56, was arrested at 2 a.m. on Saturday, at an apartment in the 3200 block of River Park Drive, between South 33rd Street and Louis Coleman Jr. Drive, according to official police records. Investigators say Cantrell stabbed a male victim and then held him at the location against his will.

Police say they first responded to a call in which a male victim said, "Don't stab me." A few minutes later, police received a second dispatch call to the apartment.

Upon arriving at the scene, police say they found that Cantrell had barricaded both herself and the victim inside the apartment.

Officers tried to enter the residence, but police records state Cantrell sat armed with a knife in a doorway. Police say she was also behind a security door that was locked.

Authorities say Cantrell did not follow multiple police orders to allow them into the apartment.

Police were able to eventually get inside the apartment to assist the victim.

Cantrell was arrested and charged with assault and unlawful imprisonment. She is being held on a $50,000 cash bond.
