Lawsuit accuses Angel's Envy of deceptive marketing
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The makers of the popular small-batch bourbon Angel's Envy are defending themselves. They're accused of deceptive marketing.
A Chicago restaurant owner filed a class-action lawsuit in October - claiming that Angel's Envy's Rye is not really a "small batch" whiskey from Kentucky.
Instead - the suit claims - it is mass-produced in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
The restaurant owner is seeking at least $5 million in damages and attorney's fees.
Angel's Envy calls the lawsuit "baseless" and "defamatory."
The company says while the whiskey originates in Indiana - it's brought to Kentucky to be finished in Caribbean rum casks, blended in small batches and bottled.
