LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville woman has been arrested days after police say she stabbed her live-in boyfriend in the eye, causing permanent blindness.

According to an arrest warrant, it happened on Jan. 31. Police say 27-year-old Kayla Clay got into an argument with her live-in boyfriend, grabbed a knife and stabbed him in the left eye.

She then ran away, according to police.

The man called police and was taken to the hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery, and suffered permanent loss of sight in his left eye.

A warrant was issued for Clay's arrest on Tuesday, Feb. 3, and she was take into custody Monday at her residence on Owen Street, near N. 20th Street. 

She is charged with first degree assault.
