LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A top priority for Louisville's mayor just moved forward in Frankfort.

A Kentucky House committee approved the proposed local option sales tax bill Tuesday morning. It gives communities the ability to vote on whether they want to raise money for a specific project through a one-cent sales tax increase. Then once the project is built, the tax goes away.

Mayor Greg Fischer testified in support of the tax this morning.

The bill now heads to the full House.
