Recovered car to be unveiled on Thursday, one year after Corvette Museum sinkhole opened

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- They were on solid ground one minute -- and swallowed by a giant sinkhole the next.

Thursday will mark one year since eight Corvettes fell into giant pit inside the National Corvette Museum's Skydome. Surveillance video captured the moment the floor gave way and the cars fell below.

It was just after 5:30 in the morning. Fortunately no one was inside or hurt.

All eight cars were eventually pulled from the hole. Only three were deemed in good enough condition for restoration.

During a ceremony tomorrow, the first car recovered -- the 2009 ZR1 'Blue Devil' -- will be unveiled.
