LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say they've arrested a man responsible for nine burglaries in the Louisville area.

According to arrest reports, officers spotted 29-year-old Frankie Higdon driving on Shepherdsville Road Tuesday afternoon. Police say he raised their suspicions because he was driving a vehicle -- a gold 2003 Buick LeSabre -- they recognized from surveillance video taken at the scene of a recent burglary.

When they tried to stop him, he allegedly increased his speed as high as 80 mph, and tried to flee.

Officers eventually arrested him, after he allegedly tried to hide in an apartment on Shady Villa Drive, near Poplar Level Road.

According to arrest reports, Higdon is responsible for nine burglaries, in which he smashed windows and took items such as jewelry, purses, watches, wallets, cash, electronics, gift cards and dresser drawers.

Some stolen items were found in his vehicle, according to police, and Higdon allegedly admitted to trying to flush a stolen necklace down a toilet to dispose of it.

He was arrested and charged with nine counts of burglary, tampering with physical evidence, fleeing and evading police and speeding.
