Air Force Thunderbird visits Louisville ahead of Thunder

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville has a special guest today -- an Air Force Thunderbird!

The Thunderbirds will race through Louisville's skies during Thunder over Louisville this year, but today their F-16 Fighting Falcon was here for a pre-show visit.

"America's Ambassadors in Blue" will be performing along with the U.S. Army's parachute team on April 18.

The Thunderbirds will bring eight F-16 aircrafts to Louisville.

Major Scott Petz has had three tours in combat serving in Iraq, but he says the air show presents its own challenges.

"When I was in combat, at no time was I doing knife-edges and loops and rolls to music, so they are different, unique experiences but different stresses," Petz said.

This year's theme for "Thunder over Louisville" is "Boom, With a View."
