LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB)---A Kentucky truck driver who saved the Spencer County Jailer from being shot, has been nominated for a national award.

Last March, Clinton Blackburn of Morehead, Kentucky, spotted a juvenile choking the jailer on Bluegrass Parkway.

The 17-year-old slipped out of his restraints, through the car's safety screen, and grabbed the jailer's gun.

Blackburn stopped the teenager, and now is one of four finalists in the running for the Goodyear Highway Hero Award. The winner will be given $5,000 dollars, a special ring, and an award.

The announcement will be held on Thursday, March 26, at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville.
