Local radio station delivers Valentines to Kosair Children's Hospital

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A local radio station sent a little love to children at Kosair Children's Hospital Friday morning.

More than 700,000 Valentines were gathered by 102.3 "The Max" and handed out this morning at the children's hospital. Thousands of people in Louisville made cards as part of "Cupid's Kids."

A "Just for Kids" ambulance was met by superheroes and princesses as it brought the cards to the hospital.

"Kids running up, hugging Batman," said George Lindsey, a DJ at the radio station. "Elsa was here singing. There were girls around her singing. It was absolutely wonderful. That's why we do it: just for the smiles on the kids' faces, because it's tough being here at the hospital, but we want to make it a little better."

Volunteers also gave out Valentine care packages to patients.

Extra cards will go to the Home of the Innocents and other area hospitals.
