Update: Spencer Co. magistrate asking for donations in late son's name

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Spencer County magistrate has been involved in an accident that resulted in the death of his 18-month-old child, Jackson.

It happened at 8:45 a.m. Friday.

According to Spencer County Sheriff Buddy Stump, Spencer County Magistrate Brian Bayers was involved in an "unfortunate tragic accident" involving a vehicle and his child. The accident took place on private property.

The child died as a result of the accident, Stump said.

Authorities are now conducting a death investigation, according to Stump.

Bayers told WDRB the family is asking for donations to the Jackson Bayers Memorial Fund at 5/3 Bank.

The visitation will be at Ratterman Funeral Home on Bardstown Road Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The service will follow at Southeast Christian Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
