Local sledders take to the hills in Louisville's Cherokee Park

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- If there is snow, you might as well sled! That is the idea many people had Monday afternoon.

The roads are dangerous, but that has not stopped people from having a little fun. Dozens of people made it out to Cherokee Park's famous Dog Hill for some sledding. You will see kids, families, teens -- and even pooches -- enjoying the snow.

One rambunctious pair of weimeraners did not want to stop playing dad's game of fetch.

"As soon as we woke up this morning they said, 'Mom, Dad, let's go!' So here we are. They will play and play and play until we take them home," said Allan Cobb.

Many people like to take a break from sledding and people-watch.You will watch many people tumble down the steep hill. One couple cracked open some cold ones in the cold weather.

"What else are you gonna do? It helps warm you up a little bit and makes the sledding go a little bit faster for ya!" said Brad Green.

"Everybody's so happy, we were just talking about that, like, you don't see anybody bummed out, everyone's having a good time enjoying themselves outside," said Abbi Miller.

One man had an innovative idea. He went sledding with an air mattress rigged with duct tape for handles and steering. Why? Because the stores were out of sleds, he said.

Plus, a word to the wise if you go sledding: secure your phone. We heard one sledder asking if anyone had seen her white iPhone.
