Floyd County travel advisory expected to continue into Tuesday

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Floyd County, Indiana travel advisory asking drivers to stay off the roads unless its an emergency is expected to continue into Tuesday.

It's in place so first responders and road crews can focus on keeping everyone safe and work to get the roads clear.

"Right now the roads are snow covered and a lot of vehicles aren't having that bad of a problem with the traction, some are," said Trooper Carey Huls, of Indiana State Police Post 5. "You just have to be aware of what your vehicle is capable of, and your driving abilities, but drivers need to remember that as that snow gets packed down, it's going to turn to ice, so what may be a passable road right now, later maybe become impassable due to hazardous conditions with ice on the roadway."

Officials are currently working some accidents where snow has turned to ice on the interstate.

As the sun goes down, the conditions just get more dangerous.
