Louisville City FC announces sale of single game tickets

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Just after the deadline for the Louisville City FC founding members club passed last week, the team announced the sale of single game tickets Tuesday.

Starting today, fans can purchase tickets to individual game throughout the season.

With over 2000 season tickets sold before the deadline, the team sits third in USL for season ticket sales -- behind the exceedingly popular Sacramento Republic FC and LA Galaxy II.

The schedule includes 14 home games, 10 of which will be on weekends -- including a July Fourth kickoff against the Richmond Kickers.

The team will play it's first home game at Louisville Slugger Field March 28 against another first year club, Saint Louis FC. Supporters groups for both sides -- The St. Louligans and the Louisville Coopers have dubbed the match up the Kings Cup. The teams will play four times over the season and the aggregate winner will lift the Kings Cup at the end of the season.

“Our home opener at Louisville Slugger Field will be an event that fans will remember for years to come,” said general manager Amanda Duffy. “At 13,000+ strong on March 28th, the impression we will make on the soccer community will be vast and the evening will set the tone for a new club in the new era of USL. We want to provide every opportunity for our fans to be a part of this unique and memorable experience.”

Louisville City FC will play in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup this season and could host some of those games, though possibly not at Slugger Field.

Players began arriving in Louisville last week and the team was slated to begin pre-season training on Monday, but were forced to move into Mockingbird Valley Indoor Soccer Complex for a closed workout Tuesday due to the weather.
