Jeffersonville mayor lifts winter weather travel restriction; snow hotline to discontinue

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Mayor Mike Moore has lifted a travel restriction in Jeffersonville, caused by the winter storm that hit the area Monday, according to a news release.

The decision came down Tuesday afternoon.

Travel had been restricted to essential purposes only, including travel to and from work, and emergencies.

But since then, Moore says the road conditions have improved.

"We still want residents to use caution when driving," Moore stated in the news release. "But our crews have done a very good job of dealing with the storm. Their hard work has made the difference."

Since the start of the storm early Monday morning, city crews have worked around the clock, applying more than 600 tons of salt, leaving 1,500 tons in reserve, according to the news release.

Additionally, Moore says that the city's snow hotline is expected to discontinue at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
