Second snowfall in Louisville to be followed by dangerous cold blast

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Metro Louisville received another round of snow early Wednesday, covering freshly plowed streets with more powdery snow, prompting schools and many businesses to close for a third straight day.

The snow started falling around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday before tapering off around 7 a.m.

According to WDRB Meteorologist Jude Redfield, the worst of the snow has already occurred, but we could receive short bursts of intense snow showers throughout the day.

Later tonight, it will become brutally cold. By 5 p.m., the temperature is expected to drop to 9 degrees; temperatures will continue to fall to as low -5 degrees overnight, with wind chills as low as 15 to 30 below zero.

The bitter cold is expected to continue on Thursday with air temperatures as low as -8.
