LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino said Thursday that suspended guard Chris Jones “probably won't start,” but should be back with the Cardinals for their game against Miami Saturday.

In a text message, Pitino said that Jones “took care of what the coaches wanted.” Pitino said the disciplinary matter concerned “discipline on campus.”

Jones did not travel with the team to Syracuse for a game the Cardinals lost, 69-59, Wednesday at The Carrier Dome. He has been the team's starting point guard and third-leading scorer, averaging 13.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists. Jones had started 24 of Louisville's first 26 games.

Pitino wrote that he told Jones that he needed to “pack his bags,” if he didn't take care of the disciplinary matter.

Wednesday during his post-game radio interview with Bob Valvano on the U of L radio network, Pitino said that Jones was, “a knucklehead, a complete knucklehead when it comes to listening.”

Louisville (20-6 overall and 8-5 in the Atlantic Coast Conference) plays Miami at 2 p.m. Saturday at the KFC Yum! Center.
