LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Louisville Metro Police have arrested a man who they say assaulted and robbed another man.
Michael D. Stone, 31, was arrested on Friday evening in the 1000 block of South 6th Street, between West St. Catherine Street and Zane Street.
Officials police records state that Stone and a second unidentified suspect approached a victim from behind in the 1200 block of Garvin Place, near West Oak Street on Friday evening.
The victim told police that the two men instructed him to hand over his wallet. Police say the victim told the two men where his wallet was located. The men then proceeded to knock the man down and take his wallet, money, identification and cell phone, according to police records.
Police say they broadcast a description for the two men following the robbery, and Stone was located a few minutes later.
The arrest report says Stone ran through an alley in the 1000 block of South 6th Street and he was located under a stairwell behind a building.
Officials say Stone consented to a search and that officers found the victim's wallet and ID in his back pants pocket. Police say Stone was also sitting on $189 in cash that was in the snow.
Officers say that Stone told them in a taped interview that "if he was sitting on money, it was not his."
Stone is charged with robbery.
