LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Chris Jones said goodbye to Louisville Tuesday – at least on social media.

Two days after Jones was dismissed from the University of Louisville basketball team, he posted messages on both Twitter (@iAM_UNGUARDABLE) and Instagram (@living_trophy3).

Jones did not address the specifics of why he was suspended for the Syracuse game last week or dismissed from the program on Sunday. But on Twitter he did admit to making a “mistake.”

On Monday, a report from university of police said that in a text message Jones allegedly threatened to “smack” a woman with whom he was having a relationship.

U of L basketball coach Rick Pitino declined to comment on specifics that led to Jones' dismissal, but said, “"I feel awful for the young man.

“But there are certain rules that you can run people, and there are other rules that you just can't -- you've got to move on. And unfortunately, we just have to move on. You don't like to see -- it's like your children: you don't like to see anybody be hurt."

Jones, a senior, averaged nearly 14 points per game for the Cards this season.
