LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Three men have died after two separate shootings late Tuesday, and police say they happened just hours apart.

The first shooting happened about 10 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of 39th and Garfield in the Shawnee neighborhood. That's where investigators say two men in their 20s were found dead in a white Dodge Charger with a Missouri license plate.

Two miles away and about three hours later, police were called to investigate shots fired in the Russell neighborhood. When officers arrived at a house on Eastlawn Avenue, they found the victim, a man believed to be in his 40s or 50s. He had been shot at least once.

Investigators are trying to determine whether the victim lived at the home or if anyone else was inside when the victim was shot.

Police say it's not a familiar neighborhood for homicide detectives.

"For the most part, I can't tell you that we have that many homicides or many violent crimes that occur over here," said LMPD spokeswoman Alicia Smiley. "Of course, you'll have your standard criminal mischief, that type of thing -- maybe breaking into vehicles. I can't say we make a number of runs over here, particularly for violent crimes."

Police haven't said whether they believe the shootings are connected, and they're still looking for suspectsAnyone with information is asked to call the LMPD crime tipline at 502-574-LMPD (502-574-5873).
